Dear JI Haihong and Wang Yongxiang,
I have now arrived back safely in Dublin. I wanted to thank you both personally for the wonderful conference, the generous hospitality, the excellent standard of the academic papers and the smooth arrangements of the Congress. I had never before visited Nanjing and I was so pleasantly surprised by the beautiful campus and pleasant weather. Also -- the lunch and dinner arrangements were excellent and I have been telling my wife about the many delicious meals I had while I was in your care.
Thank you so much for arranging for me to participate, I will also of course be writing separately to Professor Li Youzheng.
I send you friendly greetings from Dublin -- a city I hope you can all visit someday soon.
Best wishes and thanks again,

Dear Yongxiang,
The organisation was fine, I know how difficult [it] is to organize a successful event, and students were helpful.
Keep in touch, please, we will meet on some other event, and also collaborate in the future.

Dear Yongxiang Wang and dear Haihong ji
We returned from China midnight Sunday and straight back to teaching and commitments at Uni in the morning. The Semester actually started the week before.
Augusto and myself wish to thank you and your team for everything have all done to make our visit a truly memorable one.
The Congress is of historical importance and was a great success not only from a scientific point of view, but also from the human, a real eye opener. I cannot express my / our admiration enough for the force of your commitment, the sincerity of your interest, the passion and intelligence dedicated to your work.
Our most affectionate compliments also to the voluntary student staff.
The Western world obviously has a lot to learn from China, we have been talking about you all during lessons and will continue to do so. I am also advising my students to learn Chinese, I have been doing this for years and will insist now even more. It is not available at our university, but it does need to be introduced as a subject - Chinese language, literature, culture. Knowing a language is the key to entering new worlds.
Both Augusto and myself wish to thank you for your hospitality from beginning to end. Our flights, accommodation, assistance in loco, everything was perfect, the gift, so beautiful and unexpected, thanks for this too.
We are impressed by all the work in terms of publications and thank you for publishing us. It was a much appreciated surprise to read our essay on semiotics and translation in opening position in Chinese Semiotic Studies. We also appreciated all the other editorial initiatives concerning our work.
The feeling is that this is another beginning full of promise for new developments to the benefit of us all. We truly look forward to ongoing collaborative efforts together in terms of scientific research and friendship.
Kindly tell me whom I should write to among your colleagues to thank for such kind hospitality.
We wish you happiness and health and continuing success in all you do,
Augusto and Susan
